Vestry
The Vestry is the governing body of the parish, consisting of fifteen members, one third of whom are elected for a three year term at each annual parish meeting. Also elected (for terms of two years) are the Senior and Junior wardens. Ex-officio Vestry members include the cathedral administrator and comptroller. The Dean appoints a clerk and a treasurer annually.
The Vestry meets monthly to oversee the temporal affairs of the parish. When present, the Dean presides at meetings of the Vestry. Included in the agenda are at least finance, ministries, and supporting the Dean and clergy in promoting the spiritual well being of the parish. Various areas of parish activity are organized around commissions of lay members. One or more vestry members participates in each commission.
The Senior Warden, known as the Dean's Warden, is the senior lay officer of the parish and in the absence of a Dean presides over the Vestry. His or her duties are to counsel with the Dean concerning the parish and and to assist in promoting projects and activities with general responsibility for all parish programs.
The Junior Warden, known as the People's Warden, has is responsible for parish properties and acts as the representative of the congregation in matters that concern the general welfare of the parish.
